English

If a ski resort is located in La Morte - does it mean something good or rather not? This is the question we ask ourselves on the way to L'Alpe du Grande Serre, which we visit on the way between Briancon and Grenoble. Increasingly skeptical, we drive up the numerous hairpin bends from Séchilienne into the high valley, or rather the Plan de la Morte pass. We do not see a soul! Maybe that's because it's lunchtime. The parking lot at the ski resort is packed - but the slopes are empty. But everyone at lunch? The answer comes soon, when also the lifts, which had lunch break, run again, also more people come on the slopes. Nothing with La Morte.

Nevertheless, it never gets crowded, and so we can enjoy this very special skiing area extensively. The area extends over various small valleys and slopes - only a few lifts share the same panorama. It consists of two main sectors, which are in turn subdivided.

The front sector consists of a few lifts leading from the main entry point of La Blache, and an interesting double lift (Cochettes) that adds to the ski area from the village of Le Désert to the north. These two areas are united by the Serriou chairlift, which leads to the transition to the rear sector, Les Portes. From there there are some descents back down to Le Désert or to La Blache, or just to Les Bergeries, the alp in the rear sector, from which various lifts lead away and where there is also a restaurant. The rear sector consists of a main valley with three lifts, a side valley (lift Olliere) and another separate sector at the lift Cloutonis with great views of the Laffrey lakes and the mountains of the Vercors massif. Besides, the lift Perollier should be highlighted, the only one that has challenging slopes. The scenery in the back reminds me of Scotland - rolling hills, short lifts and all poma platter lifts. The short detour was well worth it. After the work is done, we drive to Grenoble, the last stop on the #SKIFORPEACE tour.
