Viele Pisten sind nicht geöffnet, einige der höhergelegenen Abfahrten an den Liften Wildwood, Mountain Top, Northwoods Express und Sourdough waren aber schön zu befahren, frisch verschneit mit sahnigstem Colorado Powder. Meine Eindrücke vom ersten Besuch wurden dadurch aber nicht geschmälert: Vail kann was (wenn Schnee da ist, aber das gilt ja für alle Skigebiete, oder?).

One of the biggest names in ski tourism is Vail — and today’s visit benefits a little from that reputation, and a lot from the simple fact that we are grateful to find at least some slopes to ski. It also feeds on memories of my first visit here nine years ago (link).
Many runs are not open, but some of the higher-altitude slopes served by the Wildwood, Mountain Top, Northwoods Express, and Sourdough lifts were a pleasure to ski: freshly snow-covered, with the creamiest Colorado powder. That said, today’s conditions did nothing to diminish my impressions from that first visit. Vail delivers (when there is snow — but then again, that applies to all ski resorts, doesn’t it?).
